Quiltish Corner is starting a free block of the month, published on her blog the first Wednesday of the month. The January block was published on December 2, 2020.
"I have a special project for you. Quilt along with me for the next year! On the first Wednesday of each month (starting tomorrow!) there will be a free block celebrating each month of the year available to Quiltish Corner visitors. Each free block will be posted the month before the “target” month so it gives you a chance to complete the block in time for displaying it the following month…if you choose to do so. Instructions are for a wallhanging that can be changed out each month, but of course, it’s totally up to you to do what you want with the free block…calendar quilt, placemats, cushion cover, table runner, etc. Decisions, decisions...what will you choose to do?!
Our first block, a snowman for January, is a shout out to our cold Canadian winters...who else remembers hours and hours as a child building snowmen and snowforts and having snowball fights? I grew up in northern Ontario and the old joke was that there was 10 months of winter and 2 months of bad snowmobiling. I'm kidding, of course...we really did have regular summers, but I do remember when I was 14 that it snowed once at the beginning of June!"
