Meeting Photos - 2021 and earlier

December  2021 - In-Person and Zoom meeting

The "appetizer" for our meeting at 6:45 was Make it Quick: Red, Green and Other Compliments. Color Schemes and tricks that won’t make your eyes jiggle.

The main event was a Special Holiday Show and Tell

After the business meeting and Fat Quarter, we played
Reindeer Games -- Fun and Prizes.

November 2021 - In Person and Zoom meeting

The "appetizer" for our meeting at 6:45 was a demonstration of the proper way to square up your fabric before cutting. Thanks, Stacy.

The main meeting was a Round Robin presented by 6 of our members - We learned some great skills:  folded fabric stars, inserting a circle, mitered borders, curvy log cabin blocks, placing fabric patterns correctly for HST and flying geese, and a number of ways to make HSTs.

October 2021 - In person and Zoom meeting

Jan Rogers, quilt appraiser, was our speaker. Members took quite a few notes as she presented loads of info on what makes a quilt collectible, how insurance companies place a value on a quilt, and much more.  Jan will be making appointments to appraise your quilt during our Quilt Show next April.

In addition, the raffle quilt for next year's quilt show was presented to the membership.  Tickets are $1.00 and available from any member.

September 2021 - In-person (and Zoom) meeting

We met at our new location - The Berkeley Hills Lutheran Church.  Our meeting topic was Graffiti Quilts.  Stacy arranged for us to view a group of 24 themed challenge quilts.  It was a mini quilt show and we voted on a viewer's choice and a number of specific category awards.

A few Santa Bags were turned in., as well as the last of the raffle quilt blocks.  So the raffle quilt is well on its way for the show next year.

May 2021  -- In-person (and Zoom) meeting

We met at Martina Spiritual Center since Kearns was not yet available.  It was great to see old and new friends - even though we were masked up.  After a brief business meeting, we had a pattern exchange and "Show 'n Tell".  Santa Bag kits were also available.  You can get a kit(s) by contacting Anne S.

March 2020  -- Community Service Night

Children's Hospital has asked us to make Santa Sacks for the children hospitalized over Christmas. Kathi Exler
, a representative from Children's Hospital, came to the meeting and shared some of what happens at Children’s Hospital with sacks.  During the evening, we prepared kits for 200 bags.  And, all the kits were claimed by NPQG members.  Thanks to everyone who helped make up the kits and those who are now stitching them up at home.

February 2020

Kim Kelley and Sarah Nowlen from the Allegheny Health Network gave us some great tips and exercises to make our quilting pain and injury free.

January 2020

Game Night!

We named our teams, created personalized quilting license plates, challenged our brains with word games and pasted up a paper quilt.

December 2019

It was a night of earning new techniques. A round robin was presented by 7 of our members.

November 2019

Stacey and Kelly organized a Surprise Project for us.
It was a quick no-sweat item that can be easily completed for the holidays. We used the strip insertion technique and got a pattern that can be adapted to many other themes and used again.  It was a great opportunity to socialize while we worked through the pattern.

October 2019

Pepper Cory - How To Become a More Creative Quilter

Pepper gave us 10 rules for increasing our creativity, starting with having an open mind. She had us laughing as she debunked the myths surrounding quilting creativity.
She had useful advice  on developing the ability to learn or change old habits of designing and presented an unconventional look at organizing that stash (not to be confused with a drug dealer's "stash").

September 2019

Augusta Cole - A Stroll Through My Quilt Garden

With her lovely Southern accent, Augusta took us on a tour of her quilts - many personally hand quilted.  Her motto is "Variety is the Spice of Life" and the variety of ways she used half-square triangles showed it.

May 2019

Pat Pauly - Challenge Yourself

Pat, an expert in contemporary fiber arts, showed many of her gorgeous quilts, modern, bold and graphic! She encouraged us to know when to apply the rules and when to toss them out.

April 2019

Penni Domikis  --Quilting Threads

Penni from Cabin in the Woods Quilters talked about the foibles of quilting and showed  her MANY scrap-based quilts.

The Challenge Quilts were shown during Fat Quarter.  They will be part of our quilt show next April - so you still have time to make one.

February 2019

Missy Bauer  -- My Favorite Things

Missy showed us her many "favorites" - tools, designers, patterns, bags and quilts.
