The North Pittsburgh Stay at Home Row by Row quilt.

Hello Everyone!
Hope this finds all of you healthy and not too bored. I don't know about you but I've organized my closets and drawers and bagged up donations, done all the backed-up mending, neatened up the basement, finished a bunch of UFOs, raked up the yard and transferred a bunch of tasty baked goods from the pan directly to my waist. My 'Someday-when-I-have-a-chance-I'll......' list is almost gone! (And if I'm honest, the things that are still on that list after 4 weeks of stay-at-home are never ever getting done. It's just time for a Hefty bag!)
And I miss being out and about. And I miss the guild. And I need something new to do. Maybe you do too!
So, I got into Electric Quilt and here's the result: The North Pittsburgh Stay at Home Row by Row quilt.
The pattern is going to go out to everyone in the guild, in about 8 installments, every two weeks. This should take us through the summer. Yeah, usually a row by row is a monthly thing, but we might have some extra time on our hands.
Here are the quilt facts:
  1. The quilt, as shown above is 46 x 63 inches, with a 5-inch border. It is made up of 3-, 6- and 9-inch blocks.
  2. The quilt is Totally Scrappy. Use whatever you have. Do not go shopping! ;) In the picture above, all of one type of block, for example the flowers, are colored the same. But they don't have to be. (That's just the way EQ pops a block into a quilt.) Use what you have! Honor the ingenuity of the quilters who came before us who sat down at night, after a full day's work, and made beautiful things out of the bag the chicken feed came in, probably in poor lighting. They were make-do ladies and so are we!
  3. The piecing in the quilt is all done with simple, familiar units and processes: half square triangles, 4 patches, snowballs and squares and rectangles. Directions for each will be written out and illustrated. It's for every level. And, in the spirit of alternate facts, there will be a second set of Alternate Instructions, if you want to try something less buttoned up and more free form.
  4. You don't need any special rulers or products.
  5. Feel free to skip rows you don't like or repeat ones you do.
  6. You can easily make the quilt half as wide: the block sizes are in multiples of 3, so you can resize without too much fuss. You can also make it wider if you want.
  7. Each row will be emailed to members,  and posted on this website and Facebook. This is so you will have access to it no matter what your level of technology use and comfort. For those of you who don't do any technology, we will send it out by mail.
  8. Please send pictures of your block/row each week to Tracey and we will post them here and on Facebook ….a socially distant Show-and-Tell!  Send them to Tracey:  zigo13@comcast.net or text a pic to her:  412-916-1280.  (Please include your name with your pic and, if you wish, any comments - why you selected these fabrics, how long or how quickly you completed it, etc.  Help to keep us in touch.)
  9. Please feel free to share this quilt. It's for everyone...the more the merrier!
