ABOUT US NPQG is a Pennsylvania Nonprofit Corporation, and a registered Chapter of the National Quilting Association, Inc. One of NPQG’s main goals is to further the quilting skills and knowledge of its members. In pursuit of this goal, our guild sponsors workshops from nationally known quilters/teachers at least once a year. The types of classes offered range from mastering the quilting stitch to perfect piecing to innovative design concepts. In addition to workshops, NPQG also schedules lectures from local and national quilters during guild meetings throughout the year. The guild originated from students of Carol Jo Seapker’s quilting classes. Carol Jo is still teaching Beginning Quilt making through Community College of Allegheny County. Eleven people gathered for the first time at her home on March 29, 1981, for a planning meeting. The first formal meeting of the group was held on May 26, 1981, at the home of Pat Krotzer. The current membership is approximately 90 and some of those original members are still with us. The guild newsletter is published on a monthly basis and you can find the latest copy at the link to the right. The NPQG quilt show is biennial. It occurs every even-numbered year. The next one will be held in 2006. This is a major undertaking for the guild, and all guild members are asked to participate in some way. Guild members are encouraged to submit at least one quilt for the show, but they can submit up to three entries. Entry Submissions for the show are open to the public; therefore, entries are juried as well as judged. In January 2005 “Quilting Parties” were introduced by Mim Gerstenberger. We hope that many will participate. This is a great way to create beautiful friendships and quilts at the same time.
* Members will be notified of exceptions.
